Nexion Technologies Secures $15,000 McMaster Student Seed Fund to Advance Membrane Technology

Nexion Technologies (formerly Aetherion) has been named a recipient of the 2026 McMaster Student Seed Fund, announced at this year’s Made at Mac celebration. The $15,000 award was granted to just six startups selected from nearly 400 ventures supported across McMaster’s innovation ecosystem, marking a significant milestone for the company.
The funding will directly accelerate Nexion Technologies’ research and development efforts as the team advances its proprietary membrane platform. While the company has demonstrated strong performance at the laboratory scale, it is now focused on delivering practical small-scale membrane modules into the hands of researchers and drug developers.
Nexion Technologies is developing sustainable, high-performance PEEK membranes designed to support advanced therapeutic development, including radioconjugate and peptide-based therapeutics. The investment will help bridge the gap between early-stage innovation and real-world application by enabling continued prototyping, validation, and scaling, and by advancing the transition from lab-scale performance to deployable membrane modules.
With this support, Nexion Technologies aims to expand testing in applied environments, providing critical insights into membrane performance under ultra-demanding conditions and helping improve reliability across drug development workflows. The work focuses on enabling researchers to better evaluate membrane performance in extreme environments while helping de-risk both the underlying technology and broader development pipelines.
